Kelmscott Manor, the summer residence of William Morris

Project Background

I created this site map illustration for Kelmscott Manor, the summer home of William Morris. Morris, a renowned 19th-century designer and founder of the Arts and Crafts Movement, lived here for several years. This project was part of their Heritage Fund initiative and included several illustrations.

The goal of the illustrations was to capture the time when the Morris family moved to Kelmscott Manor in the early 1870s. Therefore, each character had to reflect their age during that period. The site map shows scenes from daily life, with line portraits of the Morris family as they likely appeared back then. It not only served as a navigational tool but also as a family-friendly illustration of the grounds and daily activities.

In April 2022, the site reopened under the management of the Society of Antiquaries.

This project had multiple components. First, I created a simple map of Kelmscott village. Then I illustrated historical objects for an interactive game. Finally, I designed a gobo illustration projection that brings the family pet to life on the dovecote building wall.
