Project Background
These iron-age character illustrations were part of a larger project. I was commissioned by the University of Aberystwyth to create a series of eight characters that showcase iron-age activities.
Following extensive research into the specific activities, studying how they may have been carried out at the time, I illustrated eight iron-age figures doing the following activities:
- Weaving
- Metal work
- Farming
- Cooking
- Splitting wood
- Carpentry
- Pottery
- House building
The images showcase the community that people in Britain may have formed at the time such as communal cooking and building mud houses as a family together. Read the captions to give more insight into the activities.
These illustrations are accessible to all Welsh schools via the Hwb framework.
