Project Background

This cycle route map illustration was inspired by a scenic path that offers a wonderful experience for both locals and tourists. Based by a personal adventure a few years ago on the Mawddach Trail, I have created a bike trail map illustration to capture the essence of this lovely day.

One of the highlights of the Barmouth cycle route is its accessibility and ease of riding. It is suitable for cyclists of all ages and skill levels, making it an ideal activity for families to enjoy together. The trail meanders towards the beautiful coastline, providing a unique opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

As you pedal along the path, you will encounter an abundance of wildlife. The diverse ecosystem of the region is home to various bird species. You will also enjoy the sweeping vistas of the coast framed by rolling hills and distant mountains. There is a sense of tranquillity and serenity that is so characteristic of North Wales.

In my illustrated map, I aimed to showcase the simplicity and beauty of the Barmouth cycle route. The design emphasizes a minimalist approach, allowing the natural surroundings to take centre stage. On the front of the leaflet, you catch a glimpse of the picturesque town of Barmouth itself, with its charming harbour and inviting atmosphere. It serves as a testament to the hidden gems that North Wales has to offer.

The bike trail map illustration in particular is a good example of how my style of illustration can be stretch if you need a simple map that is quick to produce and could be used as a navigational device while adding a sense of character to your tourist destination.
