PROJECT BACKGROUND
Kelmscott Manor site map illustrations – Kelmscott Manor, the summer residence of William Morris, the world-renowned 19th-century designer and founder of the Arts and Crafts Movement, have commissioned me as part of their Heritage Fund Project to create a range of illustrations.
It was requested that the images celebrate the time when the Morris family moved into Kelmscott Manor in the early 1870s. The site map featured here depicts moments of daily life in the form of line portraits of the Morris family as they may have looked like at the time. The map was required to work both as a navigatinal tool and a family-friendly illustration of the grounds and everyday goings-on.
The site re-opened in April 2022 and is run by the Society of Antiquaries.
